The Philadelphia Bar Association’s Office of Diversity seeks a law student to work as a Summer Intern, 30 hours per week. The position reports to the Director of Diversity and will begin immediately. A modest stipend will be paid at the end of the internship. Duties and responsibilities include the following: Assist with planning and logistics for the National Symposium on Diversity in the Legal Profession set for November 8, 2011. This may include communicating with managing partners, chief legal officers and diversity leaders across the nation; scheduling conference calls and participating thereon; conducting legal research and drafting memos and articles on employment law and other relevant practice areas relating to diversity and inclusion, LGBT rights, etc.; reviewing and summarizing research studies/reports on diversity in the legal profession; and drafting talking points /questions for panel discussions. Assist with the content development of an Office of Diversity web page and the creation of a diversity database. Assist with the preparation of speeches and presentations. Attendance at Bar Association meetings, events and programs, as requested.Qualifications: Excellent research and writing skills, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Self-starter and ability to work unsupervised. Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
