Dear Students,

We’re delighted to announce the Summer 2013 Temple Law & Public Policy Program in Washington, D.C., directed by Professor Nancy J. Knauer. Are you interested in how federal law actually gets made? In experiencing the role lawyers play in shaping and implementing public policy? In translating your beliefs into real proposals for change? Would you like to explore living and working in our nation’s capital? If so, please join Prof. Knauer for an informational meeting about the D.C. Program on Monday, October 29 at 12:00 noon and at 5:15 pm in Klein 1D.

In this exciting new summer program, Temple Law students will work at an approved internship during the day while earning up to six academic credits in program-specific classes held in the evenings and on weekends. They will also be paired with an alumni mentor who will meet regularly with them and hopefully join them in planned social outings to various DC-based events. Students will receive mentoring and career guidance from the program director, and at the conclusion of the program will have an internship portfolio that will include a policy paper that can serve as a writing sample for future job applications.


REMINDER: The time for 2L students to start applying for internships in D.C. is now. In fact, there are some deadlines coming up this week and next, such as The Securities and Exchange Commission (October 20), and The Federal Trade Commission (October 29). Another excellent resource for public interest internships is www.psjd.org (no password needed – just register with your Temple email address). Most deadlines for 1L students are rolling, but applications should be sent in a soon as possible after December 1.
