What a Game!

Last night, David and Goliath met in McGonigle Hall for the First Annual Dean's Cup Championship. Villanova Law's team, with apparently no one under 6'5", proved to be too much for the Temple Law squad. It was a close game, with several lead changes, up until the last few minutes. With about 5 minutes left to play, Villanova pulled away after making several 3 point shots. Although bragging rights will reside on the Main Line for the next year, I couldn't be more proud of our team and fully expect Temple to be victorious in 2012.

Watching our students, staff and professors make spectacular plays on the court was exciting, but just as good was the opportunity to gather as a community, support a good cause, and enjoy ourselves. From appearances by Temple coach Fran Dunphy, Hooter the Owl, and the Villanova Wildcat, to an enthusiastic audience full of students, faculty, parents, friends, and children, it was an incredible evening.

Now for the icing on the cake. The main reason for this good-natured competition was to raise money to support Temple's SPIN (Student Public Interest Network) and Villanova's PIFP (Public Interest Fellowship Program). We raised over $1200 while having a great time.

Many thanks to Donna Lamborne and everyone who put this fabulous event together. If you didn't get a chance to attend last night, look out for a highlight reel on "Sights and Sounds" sometime in the next couple of weeks.
