Approximately 80 of them provided us with a comprehensive list of their second- and third-year associates (aka "junior" or "associates"), of whom we interviewed an anonymous, representative sample that balanced location, practice area, experience, gender and race. Having a full list of associates to choose from ensures that participating firms are on even footing and that research is objective. All associate interviews are confidential."
