The Fried Frank Fellowship Program

The Fried Frank Fellowship Program is a collaboration between Fried Frank, the NAACP Legal Defense Education Fund, Inc. (LDF) and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF).

LDF and MALDEF Fellows spend two years as associates in Fried Frank's litigation department, leaning the ins and outs of complex cases. Specifically designated Fellowship mentors guide them through the process. The goal is to ensure that Fellows get to spend at least 20 percent of their time at Fried Frank on public interest work. After that time, the Fellows join the hard-working staff of LDF and MALDEF. They move right in as staff attorneys at these organizations for two years, taking on the same types of cases as other attorneys and earning similar compensation and benefits.

At the end of their fellowships, Fellows are encourages to interview to return to Fried Frank. In some cases, they may stay on as staff attorneys at LDF and MALDEF.

The ideal candidate for a Fried Frank Fellowship is a third-year law student or recent graduate currently in a judicial clerkship.
